Shu Uemura has teamed up with global art superstar Takashi Murakami and together they have created a 19-piece limited-edition collection called “Six Hearts Princess”.
The cosmetics include eyelash extensions, gel pencil eyeliners, UV under base mousse, cleansing oil, Palette Kit, Brush Set and Makeup Box and prices range from ¥1,470 to ¥27,300.
This adorable collection is themed around “transformation”, featuring pink and black as the two primary colors that represent the duality of women. “Princess” was inspired by Murakami’s CG animation project “6HP” first shown at his solo exhibition at the Chateau de Versailles in 2010.
It’s not the first time Murakami has collaborated with high-end brands, but this time it’s the most animation oriented project.
In the past, Murakami collaborated with Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs (Japanese artists + leading designers collaborations).
Shu Uemura’s collaborations with artists and designers started back in 2004 and has included Karl Lagerfeld (“Mon Shu Uemura” Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld), director Wong Kar-wai, photographer Mika Ninagawa and illustrator OB (“Sakura” Shu Uemura x OB).
