Frank Gehry in Tokyo 「フランク・ゲーリー展」

World-renowned architect Frank Gehry is holding two great exhibitions at Espace Louis Vuitton and 21_21 Design Sight Museum “The Fondation Louis Vuitton Building”  in Espace Louis Vuitton, focuses mainly on Gehry’s concept of the foundation as a “grand sailing ship symbolizing France’s deep sense of cultural mission”.  You can see from the first sketches to the completed building (photo below) Gehry is well-known for his bold shapes and unusual fabrications. He generally uses materials such as corrugated metal and this gives his designs an unfinished raw look and his consistently recognisable aesthetic. Espace Louis Vuitton shows the process of construction of “The Foundation” through architectural models and videos showing the diverse range of state-of-the-art technologies used through the completion of the building. And 21_21 Design Sight is holding  “Architect Frank Gehry: I have an Idea”.  Also focused on Gehry’s construction process, from the starting point of the idea, his amazing collection of his sketches, his intricate compositions of challenging forms and his extensive architectural models at multiple scales. His architectural models are made with different materials like scraps of paper glued and taped together, cardboards, felt, metal, wood and even cloth. And they …
